A 2021 Mercedes G63 AMG averaged AED 388,000 in our closed sales, while a 2016 came in at AED 143,000 — the whole spread is the 2019 redesign rather than mileage. Used prices sit only about 16% under a new G63 AMG, so buy on spec, history and colour rather than expecting to save money.

The 2019 changeover is the entire decision. Everything up to 2018 is the old W463: live front axle, recirculating-ball steering, narrow cabin, 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 — characterful, cheap, hard work daily. From the 2019 model year the G63 kept the shape but got a new body, independent front suspension, proper steering, a twin-screen cabin and the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Buy 2019 to 2021 if the budget reaches; 2016 to 2018 is the value end.

Be clear what you are buying. The Toyota Land Cruiser is far cheaper to run and the better vehicle if you actually go off-road. The Range Rover HSE rides and insulates better for much less. The G63 gives you presence and a V8; if you want the Mercedes without the AMG running costs, the Mercedes GLE450 is the sensible one.
