Straight-six, mild-hybrid assistance, all four wheels driven and a body shaped like nothing else on the road — the CLS 53 is the only version of the CLS still sold new in the UAE, and it is the AMG one. Mercedes stopped building the CLS after this generation, which began in 2018, and the CLE has taken over the space it occupied.
How much does the Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 cost in the UAE?
One 2026 specification at AED 491,400 for the 4MATIC+ Coupé. There is no cheaper CLS underneath it to compare against, so the useful comparison is sideways: this is AMG six-cylinder performance and a four-door coupé body for less than the same badge costs on an SUV.
Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 or Porsche Panamera?
The CLS 53 is the value here by a wide margin, and the engine is the reason to want it — a smooth, hard-revving six with electrical assistance filling the gaps, in a body far rarer than any SUV. The Porsche Panamera is the better-driving and better-built car, and priced accordingly. On outlay per unit of performance, the Mercedes wins comfortably.
What does an AMG CLS 53 cost to run in the UAE?
About 9 Km/L, which for a car of this performance is modest — the 48-volt system does real work in traffic. The costs that matter are tyres and, later in life, the air suspension. Both are handled through the authorised Dubai network; independent specialists will take on the six-cylinder engine, but suspension diagnostics tend to go back to the dealer.
What should you watch for on a CLS 53 as it ages?
Age shows in the air springs and the electronics before it shows in the engine, so the suspension and electrical pages of the inspection report on the individual car are the ones worth reading twice.
Drive one before dismissing it as a niche shape, and price it against a comparably equipped E-Class — the engine is the argument, and it makes itself quickly. A third quote from the used Mercedes cars listed now is worth having.
