A car with a minor accident on its record typically lists around 8–9% less than an identical car with a clean history. That’s a tangible gap. On a car listed at AED 80,000, that’s roughly AED 7,000. If the repair was done well and the inspection report is clean, that’s worth thinking about.
Trim and options
Fully loaded cars list about 7% higher than the base version of the same model. Semi-loaded falls in between, at about 4% less than fully loaded. If you don’t need heated seats or a heads-up display, the base model is where fair value lives.
Manufacturer warranty
Cars still under the manufacturer’s warranty list about 5% higher than those without it. That premium buys peace of mind — but it’s worth checking how many months are actually left before you pay for it.

Nearly half of all buyer searches on CarSwitch are for SUVs. Sedans account for about a quarter. Everything else — coupes, hatchbacks, pickups — splits the remaining quarter between them.
On the supply side, SUVs are even more dominant. About 63% of all listings are SUVs, which means buyers have plenty to choose from. If you’re after a sedan, you’ll have a slightly tighter selection but less competition from other buyers.
Petrol cars still make up about 62% of what buyers search for. But hybrids are a real force now at roughly a quarter of searches. If you’re considering a used hybrid, you’re far from alone — and there are more hitting the market every month.
How much new-car money does buying used actually save?
This depends heavily on the model and how old it is, but the numbers can be dramatic. A 2019 BMW 330i, for example, lists at around AED 76,000 used — that’s roughly 73% less than the new sticker price. A 2018 BMW X5 lists at around AED 81,000, which is about 83% off new. Even a four-year-old Audi A3 saves you close to half versus buying new.
