The electronics are a genuine strength: CarSwitch has inspected more than 600 X-Trails in the UAE, and only 2% show an electrical or electronics fault, against the 11% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage here — the Ford Edge in the same class runs 25% on a 15% norm. Interior staining is the one finding above par, 33% against a 28% norm. The item to satisfy yourself about is the CVT: hold a steady throttle up to speed, then ask for a sudden overtake and listen for droning or hesitation.

The Toyota RAV-4 is similar money, holds about 56% and comes back cleaner inside, with staining on 17% of cars against a 25% norm. The Jeep Grand Cherokee costs about the same for a bigger, thirstier car and holds about 39%.

2019 to 2021 is the value window. The T32 X-Trail ran from 2014 to 2021 and was facelifted in 2017; the T33 replaced it for 2022 on a new platform with a stiffer body. The last of the T32 cars is the most X-Trail for the least money.

Middle of its class — about 54% of its value after five years, against roughly 55% for used SUVs of this size and 56% across Nissan. The Toyota Prado clears it comfortably at about 63%.
