Our closed UAE sales put a 2019 Tiguan at an average of AED 45,000, a 2018 at AED 40,000 and a 2016 at AED 19,000. Live asking prices run from AED 13,500 for a late-2010s example up to AED 136,000 for a current-year one.
Bodywork is the segment's story, not the Tiguan's: 68% of the Volkswagen Tiguans we inspect in the UAE carry evidence of prior body or panel repair, against the 61% we would expect for SUVs of the same age and mileage here, and the Nissan Kicks sits at 59% against the 53% expected for its own age and mileage. These are school-run cars in dense traffic. The mechanical questions are elsewhere: with a median 120,000 km behind them, the dual-clutch gearbox and the timing chain decide whether a cheap Tiguan stays cheap.
Read the gearbox and engine sections of the CarSwitch report on any Tiguan in our UAE listings first — the panel section tells you what to offer, those two whether to buy.
2018 to 2021. The second-generation Tiguan arrived for 2017 on the MQB platform — longer, roomier and much better inside than the 2007 to 2016 car — and was facelifted in 2021 with new lights and a revised cabin; a third-generation car followed in 2024. The 2.0-litre turbo is the one to have inspected, the 1.4 the cheaper to run.
The Hyundai Tucson asks similar money and is simpler to maintain. The Kia Seltos is also similar money and has the cleanest electrical record of the three, with no electronics faults found against the 5% expected for SUVs of its age and mileage. The Tiguan's argument is the driving and the cabin quality.
