Fuel prices in the UAE for September 2026 are up again, pushed by ongoing Strait of Hormuz disruptions. If you drive a petrol SUV — and most of you do — your monthly fuel bill just grew by roughly AED 80 to AED 120 depending on your commute. Why September 2026 fuel prices hit harder

The Strait of Hormuz shipping disruptions have kept crude prices elevated for months. The UAE’s fuel price committee passed that through, and September’s pump prices reflect it. For a driver covering 1,500 km a month in Dubai — a fairly normal commute — the maths is straightforward.

Most buyers are exposed — here’s why

Across CarSwitch’s listings, about 96% of used cars for sale are pure petrol. Hybrids sit at just 1–2% of stock. Electric is around 3%. So when fuel prices rise, almost the entire used car market feels it directly.
